Today it is Queensday. That means a lot of people are going to drink too much beer, and all around the Netherlands people have cleared their attics to sell their old stuff on the street. Yeah, it's a funny country.

Great heads

These two old covers of Time Magazine I saw in a window display somewhere in downtown Amsterdam. I've always liked actor Humphrey Bogart's style of acting. It's a pretty good portrait of him. Sophia Loren looks like she has an axe to grind. Maybe she's mad with Bogart?

Yesterday, the exhibition of Serge Baeken's work opened at gallery Lambiek. I interviewed the artist for a video beforehand, and while we talked, he drew my portrait. When it was done Serge asked if he could draw on my face too. I agreed somewhat reluctant. It was something he wanted to do to all the visitors of the exhibit, but after viewing the results of his efforts on my face, he decided to draw on people's hands instead. A wise decision. I love the portrait though. It will look great in my study. Thanx, Serge!

Bikes!

Living in Holland, but especially living in Amsterdam means you'll see thousands of bikes every day. They pass you by on the streets, on the sidewalks or just stand in your way while you try to walk. Or some biker will run you over while you walk on the pedestrian crossing. I love bikes though, not bikers. I used to bike everyday. But not since I moved to Amsterdam... Here, biking isn't covered by my insurance. Too dangerous they said. :) I rather walk anyway.

Crowded park

So, yeah, seems like summer started early this year. A couple of rays of suns means that people come together in the park. It already gets pretty crowded. Not really the place for me then.

Enormous vacuum cleaner

Monday morning, there came quite a bit of noise from the street. It came from this huge vacuum cleaner. Apparently they use the monster to clean up the big trashcans. It's the first time I saw one of those. Quite impressive. It took the guys about half an hour to clean three trash holes.

Bunbun was here

All around the Netherlands and in some places in Belgium – in Barcelona in Spain even, you can find these stickers on the street. The crazy white rabbit Bunbun is travelling around the world. Curious? Check out this site.

Cup of Joe

On a regular basis, I like to get a real good cup of coffee at the Coffee Salon (Koffie Salon) in my neighbourhood. The coffee is quite expensive, but worth every penny. It's a nice place to sit and sip you Cup of Joe. Happy moments – if the place is not too full with costumers that it. They do great business.

Toy dog

... or Dog in a Toy Shop... He almost looks like a stuffed animal himself.

All dressed up

Yesterday my girlfriend came home from Portugal, so we went out to dinner to celebrate. Outside, a lot of people were dressed up as animals. First I thought it was a bachelor party, but then I figured they were probably from some sort fraternity or something. Looked like they had fun though.
