When we were in Delft, we went for a tour of the canals. A bit silly and cliché, but then again, you learn some nice stuff about the history of the place.

By the way, this will be the last blog-post about my trip to Delft. From tomorrow, it will be Daily Webhead as usual.

Reaching for the sky

Sometimes it's nice just to look up, and not only to check if there isn't a pigeon trying to take a shit on your head. Looking up one often sees the tower of churches. Although churches sometimes are remarkable architectural art forms, I am not very fond of the concept of organised religion. No, let me rephrase that: I totally detest organised religion in any form. Those churches took a lot of money and time to build: money the bastards ripped from regular Joe's. Religion is the pest of the world and as far as I am concerned, should be banned. But hey, that's just me. So I'd rather look at the crown of a tree. I find that more relaxing. Delft has a lot of churches. Seems to me that it is or was a very religious town. Sunday morning, plenty of church bells were chase away the silence.

Turbo boost?

"You'll believe a car can fly". Turbo boost, kitt? Of course not, it was just the thought that jumped in to my brain when I saw this street sign. That's what happens when you let a nerd walk freely in unfamiliar territory.

This is the view from our hotel room. It seems that everywhere you look around in Holland nowadays, there seems to be some construction going on. It was a nice cosy room though.

FArt

Between trees and plants there were also some artworks planted. I thought these two were rather funny, of Funny Art – FArt for short. But to be honest, most artworks didn't really gel with the natural surroundings.

Beautiful tree

In the botanical garden run by the TU Delft, we saw this interestingly shaped tree, which I think is a beautiful tree as I've ever seen one. It would suit a decor of a Tim Burton movie just nicely.

A very Zen type of Duck

On Saturday, my girlfriend and I visited the Botanical garden, which is run by the Technical University Delft. During our walk we encountered this duck. Normally, one probably wouldn't think twice about such a common bird, but this one was sitting very relaxed and quiet under the bridge. It almost seemed like a fake duck at first. Then it started to move its head, although it remained very relaxed on the water, ignoring our presence altogether. It occurred to me that ducks are quite remarkable creatures and look very beautiful when one takes the time to observe them. It could be that I just got sun struck when I thought that, because it was getting quite warm that afternoon.

Night time in Delft

This weekend my girlfriend and I stayed in Delft, for a short holiday. In the next couple of days I'll be posting some pictures I took during our stay, starting with this one: night time in Delft. We were heading back to the hotel after a nice dinner somewhere downtown.
