Dark Woods

Gisteravond in de Melkweg cinema Dark Woods gekeken, een Noorse horrorfilm die geselecteerd is door gastprogrammeur Jan Doense, aka Mr. Horror. De onderhoudende introductie werd gegeven door Barend de Voogd, want Mr. Horror had een presentatie op het NFF. Dark Woods (2003), oorspronkelijke titel Villmark, is een van de eerste horrorflicks uit Noorwegen. Goed gedraaid op video, met een overtuigende cast. Prima horror voor op de maandagavond dus.

De crew van de TV show 'Real TV' is bezig met de opnames van een reality show waarvoor deelnemers in de wildernis moeten zien te overleven. Snel beginnen dingen uit de had te lopen, wat leidt tot paranoia, valse beschuldigingen en argwaan.

Voordat Linda en ik het duistere bos in doken, zaten we in de Balie aan de thee. Het leven zit vol met contrasten. 

Wachten op de toegift

Zondagavond in de Melkweg nog het laatste gedeelte meegepakt van het concert van Lyle Lovett. Op het moment dat de foto is genomen, stonden mensen te applaudiseren om Lyle nog een keer terug te laten komen voor een toegift. Een raar fenomeen, zo'n toegift. Muzikanten staan een uur of meer gepassioneerd te spelen en dan wil het publiek ook nog eens wat extra's. Vaak vind ik dat hele gedoe nogal geforceerd overkomen. Maar goed, de toegift van Lyle - die hij natuurlijk ook had gegeven als mensen minder uitbundig hadden gejuicht - was wel lekker.  

Smoking cold

This is not a great picture by any standards: for one, it is out of focus. I still like it though. Depicted are fans of the band A Day to Remember having a smoke outside of The Melkweg on a chilly evening. A smoker has to endure a lot for his addiction.

Candlelight

I took this picture last Wednesday. I went to the cinema with my friend Paul. We saw the film 'The Illusionist', which I can seriously recommend, it' a wonderful animated film. Afterwards, Paul and got a coffee at the t-room in the Melkweg. My girlfriend joined us. During our conversation I took this shot of the candle on the table. Candlelight, it always reminds me of the radio show by the same name, in which corny love poems written by amateurs were read.

40 years

This year it's the Melkweg's 40th birthday. They have an exposition with a lot of posters from the first 15 years. This is just a small part of the wall covered with them.

The Jolly Boys

I took this picture while taking a stroll through downtown Amsterdam. The Jolly Boys were supposed to perform in the Melkweg in December, but couldn't travel due to heavy snowfall. Al that remains of the non-performance are a couple of old bills announcing an event that never took place.
