Mooie bootjes

Tijdens ons verblijf op Texel de afgelopen dagen, kwam ik deze schets in boekhandel Het open boek, tegen.

Loveboat

Gisteren zat ik tussen de filmvoorstellingen door een kopje thee (hot, Earl Grey) te drinken in het restaurant van Eye. Een cruiseschip vaarde voorbij. Iedere keer als ik zo'n ding zie moet ik aan de televisieserie The Love Boat denken. Ik geloof niet dat ik die nu nog trek, maar als kind keek ik altijd met mijn moeder mee. Die tune krijg ik nu ook niet meer uit mijn hoofd.

Vanmiddag door Amsterdam Zuid gewandeld en op een rustiek plekje op een bankje gezeten. Er lag een Frans boekje op het bankje. Achtergelaten door een toerist wellicht. De reis eindigde in het overvolle centrum in Henk, comics & manga store. Gek is dat toch, dat ik altijd weer in stripwinkels verzeild raak.

VVV-moment

Vrijdagmiddag wandelde ik zo'n twee uur door het centrum van Amsterdam. Lekker even de werkweek en schrijfoprdrachten achter me latend. Opweg naar stripwinkel Henk schoot ik dit VVV-moment.

Whatever floats your boat

I like to walk home from work. It clears my head. I shot this picture heading home. I've never really been a boat-person to be honest. When I was in my teens my parents had a small boat made of polyester. They went on vacations on it. Travelling on the canals and rivers of Holland. This seems like freedom to most people. It's never really been my thing though. I'd rather spend time in a city when it comes to holidays. Today is my first day off from the VARA. I am looking forward to my little holiday. Especially since I've got a couple of projects waiting for me I finally have the time for now. I've got to get some writing done, edit some videos and have a pile of comics to review. But first, and foremost, I got to drink some coffee.

Houseboat

Yesterday, when I came from the ABC I walked by this nice colourful little houseboat.
A long time ago I got an offer to rent a houseboat in Amsterdam. Since it was only short-term, I didn't do it. And besides that, I am not really a houseboat person. I am not really a boat person as a matter of fact. A houseboat usually is too close to the street, so you get a lot of noise from traffic passing by. And a lot of boats with drunk students or tourists passing by your window. So basically I don't see the fun of living on a houseboat.

No, this is not a part of the gay canal parade. I took this picture this afternoon while taking a stroll with my girlfriend who has just returned from her holiday. We had a lot of catching up to do. The boat in the front is towing the other ones. I thought it was a funny site. Notice the waves on the water: a moment later it started to rain.
